Bucharest – multifaceted raw diamond

Bucharest is the city we – Romanians – love to hate. Crowded, noisy, with really terrible traffic, derelict in some places. People are constantly in a hurry and short-tempered.. That’s very true… Bucharest feels like a huge patchwork – honestly quite hard to like at first glance … And we totally understand why many first-time visitors are puzzled when seeing this architectural jumble for the first time. But that’s because they do not know what we know. We know the history of the place, we know the secret corners and charming hidden gardens, where one can have a wine and talk with friends till late in the night. We know all those layers upon layers of architectural styles, a combination of French, Ottoman, Neo-Romanian, Art Deco, Balkan vernacular architecture – so typical and unique for these places.

And we know that the local food and wine is among the best one can have in this part of the world. And the people are actually among the nicest and liveliest in Romania. And if you combine all these features, you get the best dinners, the best parties and the greatest fun one can have. Let us be your guides and take you on this fascinating discovery tour through Bucharest, step by step.

Tours by Locals

I asked for a very specific tour of Romanian Orthodox churches and monasteries. Laura customized the itinerary and I was able to see everything that I wanted to see. She was extremely knowledgeable about the sites, was patient wanted to stay longer, etc. She also provided excellent recommendations on where to eat authentic Romanian food and purchase authentic icons. I highly recommend Laura as a tour guide.

We really enjoyed the tour with Laura! She was very personable and friendly and extremely knowledgeable! We asked her to change the tour plan from the original plan and she was super easy about it and was able to accommodate our request and knew much information about the subject even though it was not preplanned… she was just a wonderful tour guide! We would definitely recommend her as well as use her again!!
