We are Laura and Costin and we are the ones behind Romania Step by Step and Bucharest Step by Step travel websites. We started in 2012 with BucharestStepByStep.com – providing private thematic walking tours in Bucharest, our hometown – and we gradually extended our reach to cover the entire country.

It was clear from the very beginning that the thing we enjoyed the most is when our customers were happy. It is the most rewarding feeling to see that your efforts to inform, entertain and solve any issues for your customers result in a perfect holiday for them. For us, it quickly became the main reason why we are doing this job. Our customers’ happiness is our happiness.

There are lots of companies that provide tours in Bucharest and Romania. One can easily find them on TripAdvisor and/or Google. There are even lots of foreign companies, that sell various experiences and travel programs in Romania. We spent a lot of time between ourselves thinking what makes us different from these companies. And we have come up with our core propositions.

Focus on customer happiness  

We obsess over the experience our tourists have during the tours. Should we choose one place or the other, should we have three highlights per day or two, should we hurry or not, should we stay two nights in one place or just one night. Would our customers like packing up every day or should we offer them some time to unwind and relax. We tried to think of every detail to make the best holiday of your life. This has proven to work over and over again, many of our customers thinking that Laura is the best tour guide and travel planner they have ever encountered and our tours the best they have taken yet. 

Custom made, bespoke tours

We think that not all experiences are the same for everybody. Therefore we want to involve you, the traveler, in designing your travel program. We will provide the framework – described on the website, but you will be the one to choose the type of holiday, the pace and the workshops and activities you would like to experience. We will help you create the best experience for you and your family and friends. We will handcraft your travel experience expertly tailored to your individual needs.

Private tours

We made a choice of not going with pre-arranged cookie-cutter programs sold to all visitors. We understand their appeal, but we think our tourists deserve better. Therefore, all our tours are private, for you, your family and your group of friends only. This also allows us to pick and choose the best possible accommodations and create intimate experiences that are impossible to organize for larger groups. 

Local experiences

Romania is a vast country and getting to know it in full detail is hardly possible, even for us 🙂 But we think that catching the local vibe, getting to know the farmers, the craftsmen, the traditional food, the natural beauty will offer a rewarding experience unlike any other. We’ll offer you Romania step by step, at a slow pace and we think you’ll be amazed and want more.

This being said, we selected our tour guides who share our values and who get their kicks from creating the best possible experiences for tourists. We have selected the best accommodations in boutique hotels or restored mansions, representative for the respective areas, we have chosen the best possible restaurants. You’ll get the best Romania has to offer.
